About: Our Practice Notes
SignalStorReelBantr is an independent workshop that writes down the habits screen makeup depends on: matching, recording and rebuilding.
Why we write
Most makeup content shows a finished face. Very little shows what happens on take twelve, on the third story day, or when a reshoot arrives months later. Our notes focus on that repeatable side of the craft, for emerging artists, trainees and students moving from beauty work toward film and television.
Editorial principles
- Camera first. Every choice is explained by how the camera, lighting and edit will treat it.
- No product hype. We describe product roles, not rankings, and accept no sponsorship or affiliate payments.
- Honest limits. We say when a technique needs supervised training, and we make no medical claims.
- Plain terms. Jargon is explained the first time it appears.
References we lean on
We draw on the published history of the craft, including the work of Jack Pierce, Lon Chaney, Dick Smith and Rick Baker, manufacturer technical data, broadcast lighting concepts such as the EBU's TLCI, and working conversations with artists. Brand and organisation names appear only for identification; we are not affiliated with any of them.
